AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Albert Francis Reposi
13 décembre 1921 – 30 avril 2020
.Albert Francis Reposi (Al), 98, a lifelong Staten Island resident, died peacefully at home of natural causes on April 30, 2020 in Staten Island, NY. Al was born on December 13, 1921 in Staten Island, NY to Laura and John Reposi. He graduated from McKee High School in 1939. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and took specialized training at the Naval Training Schools (Electrical) at Iowa State College and in San Francisco. He served as the Chief Electrician (Acting) on the USS Endicott in wartime. Al married the love of his life, Madalyn Franco of Manhattan, in 1949. Their only daughter Karen was born in 1952. He worked as a tester of motors and generators at Electro Dynamic Works of the Electric Boat Company in Bayonne NJ from 1941-1943 and as a salesman in the Electro Dynamic Division of General Dynamics in Avenel, NJ until 1969. It was then that he and two partners formed HANSOME Energy Systems, which is now based in Linden, NJ. Al served as the President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. He was a Life Associate Member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers since 1987. Al was athletic and as a young man he enjoyed bowling and baseball (he was a catcher). An avid golfer, Al played courses in New Jersey and Florida, as well as all of the Staten Island courses, and particularly Silver Lake Golf Club adjacent to where he lived. He had many other hobbies, including drawing, oil painting, wood carving and he had a special aptitude for carving peach pits. He loved music and was an excellent cook. Throughout his life he considered Italian cuisine to be “the best in the world”. Over the years he traveled extensively with his daughter, son-in-law and his two grandsons, visiting countries on 6 continents but loving his visits to extended family in Italy most of all. Al wrote poetry – some about his travels, some funny, some poignant. Two of his poetry collections were self-published by his daughter as a surprise gift to him. Al’s family remember him as a person who did things his own way and who was generous, authentic, self-effacing, fun-loving, smart and loyal. He always put family and friends first. He was a raconteur and a gentleman of the ‘old school’ who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about his family (in particular his grandsons), his business, his many hobbies and Italian cuisine and he was thrilled to become a great-grandfather in 2019. He is preceded in death by his wife, Madalyn Franco Reposi, who died on Staten Island in December, 1990 and his sister, Gina Reposi Lupo, who died on Staten Island at the age of 101 in October, 2019. Al is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons and twin great-granddaughters and a niece and nephew, in addition to many cousins in Italy. The family is deeply grateful to the nurses and home health aides from Bayada Home Health Care for their flawless dedication and their skillful, compassionate care. Each of them treated Al as if he were a member of their own family, and we will always be thankful for their efforts.
