He was born in Trento, Italy, on September 29, 1942. He worked as a self-employed tailor for many years as well as a short order chef. He enjoyed fishing, whether on a quiet beach or a fishing boat. He loved for cooking for friends at quiet get-togethers as well as big parties. Everyone always wanted seconds.
Al had a great personality. He loved cracking jokes. He was a happily married man, but still a ladies man. He was generous man, willing to give you the shirt off his back, but would never let you take advantage of him. He could be stern with his family, but was so understanding of his wife and sons. We (his family) were happy to have him.
Alberto is survived by his sons, Alberto, Jr. and Eric, a grandson Charles, two brothers, Danillo and Sandro as well as nieces and nephews.
Forza e Coraggio perché la Vita è un Passaggio, which translates into Strength and Courage because Life is a passage. This strikingly powerful yet simple Italian quote from obscurity with no author credited anywhere. Even still, it spoke to my heart about courage while passing through life, just as my father Al always had to; May you find Strength and Courage wherever you go, from this simple Italian quote.
A visitation for Alberto will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.
