Ann Mary Territo (nee Hughes), aged 89, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, on what would have been her 69th wedding anniversary. Ann was born and raised in the St. George section of Staten Island. She attended St. Peter’s elementary school and St. Peter’s High School for Girls before marrying the love of her life, native islander Frank Territo, in 1956.
Ann gave birth to her eldest son, Glenn, in North Carolina while her husband Frank served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon returning to Staten Island, she welcomed her second son, Tim, her only daughter, Theresa and her youngest son, Joseph. Ann was an integral factor in supporting her husband’s many business ventures and helped Frank build and maintain several successful businesses in Port Richmond and Castleton Corners.
In 1968, Ann moved with her young family into an apartment above The Gay Manor Lounge. Eventually renamed The Manor House and ultimately The Manor, the establishment garnered success as a bar/restaurant that remains popular to date and is owned and operated by Ann’s son, Joseph.
Ann was affectionately known to her nine grandchildren as “Bma.” She enjoyed taking her grandchildren on outings to broadway shows and museums and often hosted them for weekend sleepovers in the Laguna Village home in Point Pleasant, NJ that she and Frank had built in 1977.
The sun room at the Laguna Village home was the setting for large family gatherings over several decades, where Ann delighted in cooking for her family and friends. Guests clamored over her penne alla vodka and chicken rollatini any time they were served.
Ann lovingly baked crumb cakes for special occasions for years, a favorite dessert of her grandchildren. Requests for “Bma’s crumb cake” were frequent, and never denied.
In addition to working with her husband, Ann spent many years employed at Water Street Medical where she was loved by fellow staff and patients alike.
After officially retiring, she relocated to Toms River, NJ with Frank and spent winters in Florida. Ann enjoyed visits to Disney World with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren over the years as a Disney Vacation Club member.
Ann will be remembered for her sense of style, sense of humor, warm and loving nature, and her fierce loyalty and dedication to her loved ones. She is survived by her four children: Glenn, Timmy, Theresa Mastrangelo (nee Territo) and Joseph; her son in law: Arthur Mastrangelo; daughters in law: Jacqueline Territo (nee Doherty) and Maribeth Territo (nee DeForest); nine grandchildren: Tara, Michael, Jessica, Christopher, Glenn Jr., Kevin, Alexandra, Giovanna and Juliana; and thirteen great grandchildren.
