Mr. Caiazzo is survived by two daughters: Amy Taddeo and Josephine Demerac. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Frank Taddeo, Diana Bogdanowicz and Anthony Demerac; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving grandson Jacob ( Jackie) Demerac.
Anthony was born in Italy on July 20, 1922 to Frank and Josephine Caiazzo. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years Carmela Caiazzo (nee DiFrancisco).
Anthony was a World War II veteran, where he saw extensive action as a member of the US Army. He returned from the service and settled in Brooklyn, New York where he raised his two daughters and built a home with his sweetheart Connie. When he returned from overseas, he managed several fish markets in Brooklyn as well as Manhattan on Madison Avenue. Later in life, he would become part owner of the Oasis Deli in Midland Beach, Staten Island. His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and his eye for prospective opportunities. His love for family and desire to provide for them was legendary. He took pride in the fact that he was always successful in all of his business endeavors. Anthony retired and spent several of his golden years in Jupiter, Florida.
He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching boxing and rooting on his beloved New York Yankees. In addition, Anthony had a passion for watching and wagering on College and NFL football in Las Vegas while also enjoying spending time at local casinos playing craps or handicapping horse races.
He served three years with distinction as an Army Gunmen in Germany, including aiding in the victory at the Battle of the Bulge where he lowered the Nazi Flag and helped to raise the American Flag. His bravery and patriotism never left him, with the flag meaning the world to him until the day he passed.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his celebration of life will be held by his family and friends in the New York area at a time yet to be determined. We ask at this time, that out of respect for Anthony you continue to honor the American Flag at all times.
Arrangements are being coordinated by Casey Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest at Moravian Cemetery, in Staten Island, New York.
