With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arthur Paul Gormley, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and US Military veteran, who left us on the 27th of March after a valiant battle with cancer. Art’s legacy of integrity, dedication, and love endures through his beloved wife of 46 years, Denise, and his daughters, Dana, Ashley, and Brittany. He was also a loving father to his late daughter, Addie Lynn, who preceded him in passing. A proud Vietnam veteran, First Lieutenant Arthur Gormley, Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Division received the Vietnam Campaign and Service medals, the National Defense Service medal, ten overseas bars, two Bronze stars, three purple hearts, and other commendations.
After leaving the military, he continued to distinguish himself, graduating magna cum laude from Brooklyn College. Art’s hard work and dedication lead him to principal roles at The Dilenschneider Group, Hill & Knowlton, and Arthur Andersen & Company. His financial relations and crisis communication expertise set him apart as a leader and mentor while working with many of the world’s top companies.
Art’s devotion to work was paralleled only by his commitment to family. He provided a beautiful life full of love and adventure. From spending time in the pool with his grandchildren, to family vacation in his favorite destination, Aruba, Art always made time for those he held most dear.
Art is survived by his wife Denise; daughters, Dana (Mario) and their sons Giovanni and Luca, Ashley (Nathan) and their son James, and Brittany; and a community of extended family, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched deeply.
We will gather to honor Art’s life on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.
