

On April 5, 1958, at the St. Annis Church in Kingston Jamaica, Benjamin Nembhard married the former Margaret Green. Shortly thereafter they migrated to the United States and settled in Staten Island, NY.
Benjamin was a Master Carpenter where he served for over 50 years with The Carpenter’s Union Local 20 on Staten Island. He was also a local business owner and entrepreneur who was affectionately known as Ben, Benny, Son, Uncle Son and The General. His local watering hole, The Island Room, where he was known as Little Ben, was a staple in the Staten Island, Mariners Harbor community during the 1980’s. He was a huge lover of good music and a great time, often the first one on and the last one off of the dance floor.
Left to celebrate his life is his wife of over 60 years, Margaret Nembhard, eight sons; Delroy, Dennis, Melvin, Hugh, Glen, Patrick, Dexter and Sean, one daughter, Marjorie; twenty grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a host of siblings, relatives and friends.
Benjamin Nembhard transitioned on the morning of June 9, 2020 at his home in Davie, Florida. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 19th from 10 am to 12 pm at Casey’s Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Avenue, Staten Island NY. Followed by the interment at Fairview Cemetery, 1852 Victory Blvd, Staten Island NY where he will be laid to rest.
