Charles was born in Tunisia, lived in Italy and came to the United States at the age of 9 with his parents, his younger brother Frank, and his older sister Theresa. The journey was long, and it taught him early how to endure, adapt, and build a life through hard work.
He became a contractor and took pride in doing honest work and insisted on doing the job right. He worked with his hands and measured himself by what he built and by how he treated others.
He met Frances, married young and remained married for 55 years to the love of his life. They grew up together and had 3 loving children, Jennifer, Christina, and Paul who would eventually give them 14 precious grandchildren.
More than anything, he wanted to be surrounded by his family. He loved gatherings and celebrations, the sound of music, conversation, laughter, and a full house. These moments mattered most to him.
If you know Charlie, you know his most thrilling times had to be the trips to Atlantic City where he would spend hours on the slots, see a Julio show or a boxing match and then meet backstage afterwards. His absolute favorite hobbies were his motorcycle rides & being on his boat. The freedom of riding and the tranquility of being on the water were truly his most peaceful moments.
When illness came, he fought hard until the end. He met it with courage and dignity, just as he met life. His family will always remember how Charles cared for them like he cared for most things - without much talk, but with constancy and presence.
He leaves behind the most loyal, loving, caring, wife, who did not leave his side for one moment and a family who knows Charles loved them immeasurably.
