

Born in Manhattan to the late Leroy Moresco and Emma Malatesta on September 16, 1943. She grew up in Dongan Hills, graduated P.S. 11, St. Joesph Hill Academy High School and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Notre Dame College for Women. She went on to earn a Master’s in Theory of Education and became a teacher at IS 49 for over 28 years, where she passionately pursued her job as an educator. In 1994 her firm and caring style then went to an administrator role at PS 18, where she spoke lovingly of her students and colleagues. She ultimately retired as principal in 2010, leaving a career that made her fulfilled for more than 40 years.
At home, her loved ones knew Donna for her capable, accomplished presence and tireless support. She diligently maintained her home and garden, and prepared beautiful meals. She had a reverence for family, showing much of the strength and care for which she garnered the love and esteem of friends and colleagues alike.
Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Luisi, and her brothers, Joseph and Donald Moresco. She is survived by her son Joseph Luisi and wife Lisa, and their daughters Dylan and Quinn as well as her daughter, Emily Russo, her husband Keith and their daughters Vivian and Clara. There will be visitation at the Harmon Funeral Home on Thursday, from 3. to 8 p.m. and also mass celebrating her life at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, January 23, at 11:30 a.m. Interment is at Moravian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
