Doris was born on June 25, 1936 and grew up as part of a close family which included her brother Tommy and sisters Terry and Flo. She met and fell in love with her lifelong husband Fred Wrage while they worked together in New York City. After they married, they made a home for themselves on Staten Island where they raised their two sons and lived life to the fullest.
Early on they enjoyed going to plays on Broadway, dining out and traveling. Later in life they enjoyed spending time on the water fishing, admiring lighthouses, going to Atlantic City and playing cards and dominos with family and friends. They were both active in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church providing leadership, friendship and support to the church, fellow members, and the community. Doris led the Ladies Aid group at St. Matthew’s and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred Wrage and her brother and sisters: Thomas Rasmussen, Theresa Mezzacappa and Florence Moffett.
Doris is survived by her son Jeff Wrage and his wife Maureen, her son Scott Wrage and his wife Kelly, her grandson Nicholas Wrage and his wife Olivia, her grandson Andrew Wrage, her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sayoko Wrage and several loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Matthew’s Church or the American Heart Association, both causes Doris felt strongly about.
