

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Native Staten Islander Eileen E. Kearney, 88, of Castleton Corners, a retired insurance agent who will be remembered for her warm personality and sense of humor, died Wednesday in Clove Lakes Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners, where she resided for ten months.
She was born Eileen K. Demarest in Stapleton. After her marriage to William Kearney, the couple lived in Sunnyside. In 1994, she relocated to Castleton Corners.
She attended McKee High School.
Mrs. Kearney worked as an insurance agent for 40 years, retiring in 1990 from the Howard Bowe Insurance Company, West Brighton.
She enjoyed travel and her favorite destinations included Alaska, Aruba and London.
A kind and caring person, Mrs. Kearney was also fun-loving person, and enjoyed making people laugh, her family said.
Mrs. Kearney was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William, who died in 1977, and by her son, George J., who died in 1990.
She is survived by four brothers, Clifford, Robert, Frederick and Dennis Demarest; four sisters, Catherine Arthurs, Alice Sawler, Helen Palazzola and Maureen Ragaglia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, from the Casey Funeral Home, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church, both in Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
