April 23 1939- January 13 2025
On January 13th 2025, Lucy Rivas left to be with the Lord.
Lucy was born on April 23rd 1939 to Adrian Rivas and Gregoria Figueroa in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
For 85 years Lucy was on a mission to help others. Not only was she a force to be reckoned with, but she was your advocate, your passionate friend, and everyone’s rock. Lucy stood up to the lions of injustice. She poured herself out for others through her occupation as a psychiatric detox nurse at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center for more than 25 years. Her tough love helped many veterans recover from the stronghold of addiction. Her passion fueled her legacy of caregiving and loyalty to her family. To Lucy, family was everything.
Lucy is survived by her three children, Joseph Andrejcisk (Cherice), Andrew Andrejcisk (Patricia), and Maria Fisher (Tom), and her foster child Steven Friedberg. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Rivas, Carmen Benitez, and her brother Juan Rivas. She is preceded in death by her brother Luis Rivas and her sister Ana Rivas. She fiercely loved her grandchildren, Lita Brooker, Elizabeth Andrejcisk, Christine Andrejcisk, Alexandria Andrejcisk, Lirio Andrejcisk, Tommy Fisher, Candice Andrejcisk, Andrew Andrejcisk, Joshua Fisher, Ariel Andrejcisk, Gabrielle Andrejcisk, and Elyse Andrejcisk. She is also survived by her 28 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
