Elizabeth Slizewski

Elizabeth Slizewski (Betty) 96, passed away on September 29, 2023 at Staten Island University Hospital Ocean Breeze in Staten Island, surrounded by family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born in Bronx, New York she graduated from Matawan High School, Matawan New Jersey in 1946.

In 1949, she married the love of her life, the late Alexander Slizewski who passed away in 1976. They settled in Staten Island where they raised their three children in the house that she still lived for more than 60 years.

Betty spend her entire career working in JCPenney. She retired after 37 years in 2003. She still enjoyed her monthly lunches with with the JCPenney retirees at the Staaten.

She was an avid Betty Boop collector. She loved movies, some favorites include Shirley Temple, The Sound of Music and White Christmas. She also enjoyed a good horror movie with her son-in-law. She loved taking long car rides and going to the Jersey Shore with her longtime companion the late John Allen.

Betty’s pride and joy was her family, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was Mother of the late Susan Slizewski and Frank Slizewski as well as her five sisters.

Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia Baron (Slizewski) and son-in-law Barry Baron of Staten Island. Five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday October 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9PM at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310. and on Monday October 2, 2023, Mass will be held at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 366 Watchogue Rd. Staten Island NY, 10314. Interment will take place immediately following at St. Peter’s Cemetery West Brighten
