Elizabeth (Betty) Zangwill was born on September 9, 1949 in Staten Island, New York to parents Rita and Albert Morse. Betty had three siblings that predeceased her, Lynn, Albert (Chris) and Richard. Betty lived a full and impactful life until her death on August 21, 2025, surrounded by her family. Betty is survived by her husband of 48 years, Michael, and children Matthew (wife Jordana) and Jeffrey. She is survived by her beautiful grandchildren Luke, Dean, and Jesse.
Betty was devoted to her family, among other things as a doting grandma, and a gracious friend to many throughout her life. A native Staten Islander, Betty was a registered nurse and served the New York City Board of Education as a school nurse for over 30 years. She put love into everything she did, always trying to find the joy in life.
She loved to make holidays special for her grandchildren, traveling, and spending time with friends shopping and playing mahjong.
Betty’s fight to overcome sudden illness was inspirational and showed her strength and resilience. While her family misses her enormously they are grateful knowing Betty fought hard to stay with us and is now free from any pain. Betty will be remembered for her kindness and will live on in all who knew her.
