AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Eugene Pepe

30 décembre , 193028 octobre , 2019

Eugene Pepe, 88 Retired postal worker Eugene was born Dec. 30, 1930, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He served in the United States Marines in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and in the Reserves until 1959. He was a great storyteller of living and growing up on the Lower East Side. He was always so proud of being able to go over the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge on the opening day in 1964 with his two young sons. It's not surprising that he would eventually move to Staten Island. He enjoyed watching the NY Mets, bowling, old movies, playing cards and spending time with his family. During his 30 year career at the US Postal Service, he was very proud of the various awards he received for his outstanding work ethic, which he taught his children and grandchildren. Eugene is survived by his wife of 61 years, Emma, his children: Robert Pepe, Eugene G. Pepe and Valerie Pepe, sister, Theresa Sleavin, daughters-in-law, Janet Casini-Pepe and Rosemarie Pepe, brother-in-law, George Cassissa and sister-in-law, Barbara Cassissa; two grandchildren, Nicole Pepe and Jackie Pepe and his future grandson, Jeff Mondlock (Nicole Pepe's fiancé). Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Antonio Pepe and nephew, Anthony Sleavin. A wake will be held at Casey Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass is set for Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church.
