Frank Furlani passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025. He was 83 years old.
Frank was born in Staten Island, New York on October 31, 1941 to Christine and Frank Furlani. He lived his entire life in Staten Island.
He enjoyed setting up his Lionel trains in the basement and would always turn them on when his grandchildren and great-granddaughter came to visit. He also enjoyed decorating the house for the holidays, especially setting up a train set under the Christmas tree. He also enjoyed going to car shows and traveling to the Caribbean with his wife. Doing small repairs, painting and maintaining the church grounds with his friend Dennis Genovese was always a joy to him. Frank was a member of the Tompkin Masonic Lodge No. 471 in Staten Island. He graduated from Port Richmond High School and went on to join the Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He worked at Procter and Gamble, Port Ivory where he molded Ivory bar soap.
In 1965 he married Elizabeth Bunting from Westerleigh and raised 3 children, Gerald Furlani, Elizabeth Brower and Craig Furlani in their Westerleigh home. In addition to being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was very active with his church, The Church of Saint Andrew, where he was a faithful parishioner, volunteered at Trinity Church Soup Kitchen, St. Mary’s Food Pantry, was an actor for Fright Night and worked at the Men’s Club table for the Holiday Fair. He was also a leader in Boy Scout Troop 2.
Frank is survived by his three children: Gerald Furlani, Elizabeth Brower (Robert), and Craig Furlani (Denise), 4 grandchildren: Andrew Furlani, Ryan Brower (Briana), Alexander Brower (Joseph), Emily Furlani and great-granddaughter Jamison Brower.
He is also survived by his brother, Robert Furlani (Charlene) and, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ruth & George Michie and 3 nieces and 1 nephew.
A Funeral Mass will be held on September 7, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Church of St. Andrew, 40 Old Mill Road, Staten Island, NY 10306. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Frank Furlani, for the restoration of the pipe organ, can be sent to the Church of Saint Andrew, 40 Old Mill Road, Staten Island, NY 10306, Austin Pipe Organ Restoration Fund.
