

September 3, 1937 – July 18, 2025
Born in New York City to Mary and George M. Bramwell, George was a lifelong learner and teacher. He was educated at the Buckley School, the Knickerbocker Grays, Fairfield Prep, Fairfield University, and Fordham Law School.
George served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy before spending over three decades as General Counsel for the Legal Advisory Department of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith and Broadcort Capital Corporation.
In retirement, George devoted himself to environmental preservation, founding and leading the Serpentine Arts and Nature Commons and serving as president of the Greenbelt Conservancy. He also supported the work of numerous open space and conservancies throughout Staten Island.
George is survived by two sisters as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws; his caregivers Hawa Belmoh, Fabiola Ramirez, Augustine (“George”) Massaquoi, and the " men and women of SeaView"; his friend Bob Garnett; his chosen family Diana Rojas, Jonathan Rodriguez, Chantal Martin, Daisy Rosado, and the Drier family; and his wife of sixty-one years, Patricia.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, located at 10 Austin Pl, New York, NY 10304, United States. The service is scheduled for July 24, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
A committal service will follow at The Green-Wood Cemetery, located at 25th St, New York, NY 11232, United States. This service is scheduled for July 24, 2025, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
