

Halema Margaret Giles, “Lema” was born April 13, 1961 to Eileen and Harold Hosein in Trinidad West Indies. She was survived by her husband Joseph Giles and her Daughter Jada Genesis Giles and her 5 siblings Sandra Shephard, Phyllis Hosein, Francis Hosein, David Hosein and Terry Hosein.
When Halema was 8 years of age the family moved from Trinidad to the United States. Her mother Eileen was the motivator to create a better life for herself and her family.
Upon coming to the United States her family settled in Staten Island, where she attended Elementary School, then on to JHS 49 in Stapleton. Finally, on to graduate from McKee Vocational High School.
As a teen Lema worked in retail for Woolworths Department store in Stapleton before moving on to work at Shearson Lehman Brothers as an Administrative Assistant. She remained working there for 16 years through many mergers within the company.
Halema was married to Joseph Giles in 2002 and had a daughter, Jada Genesis Giles to complete their family. She continued to work until Jada was 2 years of age, and decided to become a stay at home Mom to devote her time to her daughter Jada Genesis.
Recently Lema decided to return to work. On February 21, 2020, Lema was employed by the NYPD as a Crossing Guard. She was very contented and honored to finally attain what she called her dream job.
Halema attended True Vine Christian Fellowship.
Halema lived a very quiet simple life, she loved attending family events and just being among people chatting and sharing many stories to help others in their journey. She loved to Dance, listen to music, laugh, and make jokes, Shopping was her main thing, Halema was a true fashion Diva.
Halema “Lema” will be greatly missing!
