James F. Hamilton Jr.

James Francis Hamilton Jr. died on Tuesday August 17, 2021 gently in his sleep at the age of 85. James was born on July 23, 1936 in Staten Island. He graduated from St. Peter’s Boys High School and St. John’s University. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Brenda Ann (Kinsley), and his children, James F. III, Margaret (Mahoney) and Charles. He is also survived by his sister Helen Hannan, his 5 grandchildren – Justin and Brendan Hamilton, Ryan, Kayla and Alison Mahoney and 2 great grandchildren – Logan James and Gavin Daniel.

James was predeceased by his parents James Francis Sr. and Elizabeth (Graham) as well as his brother John.

James served the United States Government, first in the U.S. Army, then as an Internal Revenue Officer for over 25 years. Upon retiring from the IRS he turned to his passion as an educator. He worked as a substitute teacher for the Department of Education until he was 80 years old. He also worked as a CCD teacher at St. Rita’s School until his death.

He was an avid NY Yankees fan and especially enjoyed attending games with his granddaughter Kayla. He also loved the NY Jets though they gave him a lot of headaches.

His funeral will be a mass at the Church of St. Rita, 281 Bradley Avenue on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10 AM. Visitation will be at Casey’s Funeral Home 350 Slosson Avenue on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4 PM – 8 PM.
