The Ghigliotti Family expresses with deepest sorrow that John has passed away at the age of 97
on September 10, 2018.
John was born on Staten Island in 1921. He graduated from St. Sylvester’s grammar school
and St. Peter’s High School.
He served as a Sargent in the Army during World War II.
He was employed by the NYC Department of Sanitation for twenty-nine years.
John was a member of the Assumption Council (No. 1694) of the Knights of Columbus, holding
the title of a Fourth Degree Knight with the Governor Dongan General Assembly. He also
served as a color corps member of the Knights.
Throughout his life John enjoyed golfing, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, bowling ,
and creatively approaching many projects.
John was married for seventy years to his wife Edith, who passed away in April 2018.
John is survived by his three children, Jane (Kenneth) Malta, John D. (Gail) Ghigliotti, and Peter
(Nancy) Ghigliotti, and his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Harmon Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be
held at St. Ann’s Church at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 13, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
