John "Jack" K. Hickman, 98, died on May 29, 2017.
Born in Fort Wadsworth while his father was stationed there, Jack and his wife, Evelyn, grew up on the same block. They were married July 11, 1943, spending 66 years together until her passing in 2009,
A Curtis H.S. graduate, Mr. Hickman worked as a school custodian and lunchroom assistant. He retired in 1990 and for many years enjoyed volunteering at the New Lane Senior Center.
Mr. Hickman is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Loughran, and grandson, John.
Visitation is today, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Virginia Funeral Chapel. Funeral is Thursday with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph R.C. Church (Rosebank), Staten Island. Interment is in Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island.
