

Joseph R. De Martinis, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on May, 27, 2025. Joseph DeMartinis served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1953. Joseph was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Joseph worked in electrical engineering with the NYC Department of Public Works from 1963 until his retirement in 1996. Joseph was proud of the work he did at many of the City’s landmarks including Yankee Stadium and the SI Zoo.
After his retirement from the City, Joseph continued to work for several electrical contractors and construction management firms. Joseph was well respected for his work ethic.
Joseph was married to Maria Angela De Martinis (DeVito) for 58 years until her passing in 2013. Together, they were the proud parents of James, Theresa Bradley, Janice Posner, and Michael. Joseph’s seven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 bonus great grandchildren, also brought immense joy to his life.
Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was known for his kindness, loyalty, and honesty. Joseph was a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph’s R. C. Church, Rosebank. He enjoyed reading historical non fiction and crime novels, he could repair almost anything, and he especially enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
A funeral service will be held on May 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Casey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Maria.
