Joseph A Sercia Jr.

Born in Arrochar, Mr. Sercia moved to Dongan Hills in 2000.

He graduated from Curtis High School and earned a certificate in general automotive mechanics from Apex Technical School in Manhattan in 1994.

A mechanic for Ash Auto Corp., Dongan Hills, Mr. Sercia enjoyed rebuilding cars, attending auto shows and taking trips to Georgia, where he was the co-owner of an auto body shop.

Mr. Sercia also enjoyed caring for injured animals, especially birds, and formerly raced homing pigeons. Other interests included reading, especially fiction, and collecting movies, particularly those directed by George Romero.

Mr. Sercia was a parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills .

Surviving are his father, Joseph Sercia Sr.; a brother, Peter Sercia, and sister, MaryAnn Benanti.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
