I was saddened to learn of the death of your Dad.  I still remember when he bought the 1949 Plymouth from my mother.  I know it was his pride and joy.

It is with great sadness that I reflect on Uncle Joe's long and fulfilling life. I have many great memories of Uncle Joe's visits to Marystown and my many chats with him on the phone. He was always interested in what was happening back home(as he referred to Marystown). Its so sad to think, that Uncle Joe is the last of that generation of Walsh's. Grief is hard but special memories will help you through this most difficult time.

Uncle Joe, you will always live in our hearts as a very special person. There is no doubt much rejoicing in Heaven as you are now reunited with those you have loved and missed so dearly for many years, in particular, Aunt Kay and Joe, but also many other family members and friends from Marystown and other places in Newfoundland & Labrador.  To our cousins, Mary Ann, Adelaide, Charlie and John and families, you are so blessed to have each other at this  difficult time. A flood of memories washes over me as I send my few remarks of condolence: the nearly 60 years ago when we were all so much younger, cuter, and full of sincerity and laughter  as we enjoyed each other amid  the simple setting of a small village in Newfoundland during the summer months with a visit from our cousins '' from away ''.  With no fridges and icemakers  our Nan Walsh  mixed hard lemon crystals in cold well water to quench our thirst from running and playing, with no television, x boxes, or theme parks to amuse us, we made our own fun , esepcially enjoying jumping down the hay in the stables, picking berries in the woods, rowing in the dories, and catching frogs in the swamps. In the nighttime we joined  the adults as they partied and ate and drank, and we were all together.  The years have brought so much: joys, pain,  happiness and heartache, and questions , most of all .  Uncle Joe ( orginally our Uncle Cecil) was part of those hard-working,  strong, and beautiful people that Newfoundland produced in those days . He has entered the realm of the Ages now, gone, but all around us, deceased but very much alive in our hearts and memories. If the Ages naturally draw  like souls together  I hope myself  some time to see them all together again - Nan and grandfather Walsh, Mom and Daddy ,Kathleen, Mamie and Violet and Marg, our cousin Joe,  Uncles Mike, Mart and Martin and Jack. God bless them all - we didnt know them enough or for long enough.God take care of us all . Peace and Love to everyone !
