

Born in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, he moved to the United States in the 1960s after graduating from medical school, first moving to Washington Heights and later on to Yonkers. He met his future wife, the former Miriam Harper, while working together at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn. The couple settled in Castleton Corners in 1974.
Dr. Yamin started his career at Montefiore Medical Center, in the Bronx, eventually becoming an attending radiologist at Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Center and Home in 1998. He was also the chairperson of the Radiology Safety Committee and the Radiation Safety Officer for Sea View.
Officially recognized in 2010 for his commitment to advancing the mission of the public hospital system, he was honored during the National Doctors Day by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. He was instrumental in the reorganization of the radiology department at Sea View from analog to computerized radiography.
While extremely dedicated to his work, Dr. Yamin remained committed to his family. "He was my best friend," said his wife of 40 years, Miriam Yamin.
In addition to his wife, Miriam, surviving are three sons, Raymond and John Yamin, and Steven Foster; four daughters, Wadie, Yadira and Cynthia Yamin, and Jodie Foster, and nine grandchildren.
Arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners.
