Kevin John Hoey, 89, formerly of Queens, passed away on Thursday, June 19, at the Addeo House Northwell Health University Hospice in Egbertville following a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, Kevin attended Brooklyn Technical High School and the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. He served his country with distinction during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
After his military service, Kevin settled in Forest Hills, Queens, where he built a successful career in printing sales that spanned most of his working life until his retirement a decade ago.
In 1970, Kevin married the former Elizabeth Curtin at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs R.C. Church in Queens, where they remained devoted parishioners until Liz’s passing in 2010. Kevin later made Staten Island his home.
Kevin had a lifelong love of the seashore and treasured summers spent in Cape Cod and the Hamptons with friends. He maintained a keen interest in politics and found joy in traveling, especially to Ireland, the land of his parents’ birth.
His brother, Brendan Hoey, died in 2010.
Kevin is survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Hoey, and many loving nieces and nephews who will miss his warmth, wisdom, and wit.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday from the Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Brighton. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the Addeo House hospice.
