

Loretta Sellitti, a resilient and spirited soul beloved by many, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 95 in Staten Island, New York. Loretta's life was a testament to strength, perseverance, and love, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Born on September 17, 1928, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Nicholas and Julia Cartegna, Loretta's journey was one marked by tenacity and a vibrant spirit. Throughout her life, she embraced various roles with dedication and passion. Loretta worked as a toll booth collector for the New York and New Jersey Port Authority at the Staten Island bridges for eight years, later Loretta served as a Secretary for Verizon for over twenty years.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Loretta found joy in simple pleasures. She relished the camaraderie of playing cards and found excitement in visits to Atlantic City, where she indulged in her love for gambling. Additionally, she cherished moments spent playing bingo with her daughter and was an active member of the Arrochar Friendship Club.
Loretta's strength and resilience were evident throughout her life's journey. A tough and spirited individual, she faced challenges head-on, emerging as a survivor in every sense of the word. Whether delivering or receiving a punch, Loretta's unwavering spirit remained steadfast.
Loretta was preceded in death by her sons Buddy DiBartolo and Glenn Sellitti, a grandson Dennis D'Eredita, sisters Grace and Rachel, and brothers John, Anthony, and John. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to her surviving family members: daughter Lorraine D'Eredita and her husband Dennis, son Joseph DiBartolo, son Michael DiBartolo and his wife Denise, son Scott DiBartolo, sister Joan Parise, grandchildren Michael, Joseph, Dayna, Lisa, Vincent, Michael, Ashley, Julia, John, and Kristina, great-grandchildren Lydiana, Starling, and Hunter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Clare Church, 110 Nelson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10308, followed by a committal service at St. Mary's Cemetery, 155 Parkinson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10305, at 12:30 PM.
Loretta Sellitti's legacy of strength, love, and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love she shared with her family and friends.
