Lorraine Cannizzaro, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving a legacy of love and devotion to her family. Born in Manhattan, raised in Brooklyn, NY, and spending summers in New Hampshire, she moved to Staten Island in 1964, where she and her husband settled in Dongan Hills.
Lorraine was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married her one and only love, Russell Cannizzaro, in a union that would have celebrated 65 years this April. Together, they built a life centered around family, marked by countless holiday gatherings and memorable Christmas Eves filled with her joy in watching the children open their gifts.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Russell Cannizzaro, Laura Vitale, and Michael L. Cannizzaro, and is predeceased by her daughter, Margaret Hansen. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Anthony Hansen, Russell Hansen, Daniele Piletto, Thomas Vitale, Russell E. Cannizzaro, Kimberly A. Cannizzaro, Michael R. Cannizzaro, and Erica M. Cannizzaro, as well as her six great-grandchildren: Dahlia Piletto, Brielle Hansen, Noelle Hansen, Orion Cannizzaro, Summer, and Phoenix Cannizzaro.
A graduate of Brooklyn Academy, Lorraine later worked as an administrator for the City of New York's law department after raising her family. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, shopping with friends, and hosting holiday celebrations.
