February 17, 1935 – August 13, 2025
Described by her grandson as “one of the toughest and softest people you ever met,” Marguerite (Peg) Doyle passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025.
True to form, she did it her way—no apologies, no sugarcoating, and probably with her nails done and a Manhattan nearby. Peg was one of a kind: hard and soft, generous and loyal, honest to a fault (sometimes too honest—she never held back what she thought, whether you wanted to hear it or not). In a world of filters and fakery, Peg was 100% authentic, and she made sure you knew it.
The only child of Michael Crowe and Johanna Shea, Peg grew up playing on the streets of Brooklyn, where every corner was an adventure, after her father’s sudden passing at age 29. That
loss shaped her tough independence, her no-nonsense outlook, and her street-smart style. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick Leo Doyle, and her half-sister, Mary Alice Dwyer. Peg fiercely loved her family—her four daughters Joanne Seviour, Maryanne Teahan, Carolyn, Mitchell, and Maureen Ferrette—and anyone who tried to mess with them learned quickly why
Peg was not someone you wanted to cross. Her friends were her chosen family. With Alice and Joe Sevier (and their kids Mary, Linda,Thomas, and Joanne), Peg earned her nickname “Piggles” and became the life of every party. She and Alice could light up a dance floor in seconds—if Peg wasn’t dancing, she was mixing
another Manhattan. Her longtime partners-in-fun, Doreen and Bill Moore (and daughters Sherry and Tracy), were always in on the action. Peg and Doreen could sniff out a deal in New York or Florida like bloodhounds, and their legendary parties featured drinks that no one could quite remember the recipes for—but everyone remembered the aftermath.
Peg adored babies and children, a love she passed on to her daughter Maryanne. When her first grandchild was born, she became “MeMa,” and wore the title like a crown. She leaves behind
nine grandchildren—Michael Teahan ( Krystal), John Teahan (Brittany), David Seviour, Anna, Seviour, Stephanie Arnold ( Kyle), Christopher Mitchell, Gregory Mitchell, Ryan Ferrette (Kait), and Kristin Nahas (Steve)—plus nine great-grandchildren, Jack, Nora and Connor, Teahan, Max and Owen Teahan, Benjamin and Olivia Arnold, And Peyton and Kody Nahas who all knew that when MeMa was around, the fun was endless. As her oldest great-grandson Jack once said,
“All the fun will be gone without her.”
She was also a fashion queen before Facebook made it trendy. Peg loved her bling, and as a young woman she was known to pay off her dresses like investments. Her custom-designed wedding gown could’ve rivaled a royal bride’s—minus the stiff formality.
In her final days, Peg told her grandson she was at peace because she had lived her life exactly the way she wanted—her way. And that, truly, was Peg in a nutshell.
So, raise a glass (preferably a Manhattan) and kick up your heels on the dance floor for Peg.
She’s probably already got the party started upstairs—glitter, music, and laughter included. Mom, MeMa, Piggles—you’ll be missed fiercely, remembered fondly, and celebrated forever.
