

Marie G. Picioccio, 94, of Egbertville, a homemaker who worked in the defense effort during World War II and loved traveling with her husband, died Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born Marie G. Mucciariello in West New York, N.J., she grew up in Pompton Lakes and Riverdale, N.J., and went to school there.
During World War II, she worked in a munitions plant in Butler, N.J.
She and Peter Picioccio met at the beginning of the war. The couple wed in 1946, after his return from the U.S. Army, and moved to New Brighton. They settled in West Brighton in 1958 and lived there until 1988, when they relocated to West Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Picioccio returned to the Island in 2003 to live with her daughter in Westerleigh. She had resided in Eger Harbor House, Egbertville, for seven years.
She loved to travel with her husband, and the couple had been to the Caribbean slands and throughout Europe.
Mrs. Picioccio also loved to read, with mysteries a favorite, and enjoyed crocheting.
She had a sweet personality and was very kind and caring, family said.
Mrs. Picioccio was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, West Brighton.
Peter, her husband of 57 years, died in 2003.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Modafferi; her brother, David Mucciariello; a grandson, and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
