Mark Montana, age 70, of Great Kills, Staten Island, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised in Staten Island, Mark remained deeply connected to the community he called home throughout his life.
Mark shared 12 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lisa Montana. He is survived by his children Jeffrey (Karl), Christopher (Gabrielle), Steven, Danielle (Michael), Jennifer (Joanna), and Samantha (Genci). Mark’s greatest joy was his growing family, and he took great pride in his nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Marie; his niece, Gina, and her husband, Angelo; and his great-niece, Ciara. He is predeceased by his mother Marie and father Frank.
Mark spent over 35 years working as a steamfitter for the NYC Department of Education, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and generous spirit. Outside of work, he found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: spending time with his dogs, Oreo and Bella, fishing, listening to music, and attending country concerts with the people he loved. Mark took immense joy in playing the trumpet professionally for artists like Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder.
To honor Mark’s memory, the family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
