Born on March 3, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Isabella Reynolds. As the oldest of ten children, Maryann developed a strong, capable, and resilient nature early in life. These traits defined her character and made her a pillar of strength for her family. She placed a high value on education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education from SUNY Oneonta and later achieving a Master of Science in Sociology from SUNY Stony Brook.
Maryann dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds. She served as a teacher for over thirty years at Kings Park High School, Notre Dame Academy, and St. John Villa. Her passion for life extended well beyond the classroom. An avid skier in her youth, she later discovered a love for the fairways and became a dedicated golfer. She was an active member of the Ocean City EWGA golf club and cherished the summers she spent in Ocean City, MD. Whether traveling or simply gathering with friends, Maryann was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved.
She married Thomas Conway, Jr. in 1982 and moved to Staten Island where the couple shared thirty years of marriage until his passing. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Asham, and her husband Michael; her son, Thomas Conway, III; and her three beloved grandchildren, Maureen, Augustine (Auggie), and Franklin. She is also survived by her siblings Marje (Bill) Strawbridge, Casey Langhorn, John Reynolds, Edward (Jill) Reynolds, Joann (Ritchie) Lettis and Christopher (Denise) Reynolds. Maryann was predeceased by her husband, parents, and siblings Maureen Valdur, Daniel Reynolds, Patrick Reynolds, and Mary Reynolds.
