

Lifelong Staten Island resident Michael David Hoey, 53, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, died Tuesday in Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital's Addeo Hospice in Egbertville following a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born and raised in West Brighton and was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church. He graduated from St. Peter's Boys' High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Upsilon Fraternity, Alpha Chapter. Over the course of his career, he worked in sales, where his hard work, dedication, and kindness made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
In his personal life, Michael had a true passion for sports, particularly enjoying watching games with family and friends. His warm spirit and generous nature made him a cherished companion to those who had the privilege of spending time with him.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Brendan Hoey, who passed away in 2010.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Hoey; six siblings, Anne Marie McDonough, Sharon Cohen, Paul Hoey, Catherine Stalmanis, Carolyn King, and Laura Baird; their spouses; and his uncle, Kevin Hoey. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as three grandnephews, all of whom he adored.
Michael's memory will live on through his family and friends, whose lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.
A visitation for Michael will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 981 Castleton Ave, Staten Island, 10310. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens.
