Con profunda tristeza y eterno amor, anunciamos la partida de nuestra querida esposa, madre, abuela, hija, hermana y amiga, Nancy Violeta Cardenas Gavilanes, quien entró en el descanso eterno el 16 de julio de 2025 a los 63 años de edad.

Nacida en Milagro, Ecuador, Nancy fue la amada hija de Angela Gavilanes Larco y Manuel Gavilanes Ochoa. Posteriormente formó un hogar cálido y lleno de amor en Staten Island, Nueva York.

Fue la esposa devota de Edgar Javier Cardenas Alban durante 38 hermosos años, y la amorosa madre de Josue Javier Cardenas y Judith Angelita Cardenas. Sus nietas—Madison Judith, Savannah Renae y Delilah Grace Cardenas—fueron su corazón y mayor alegría.

Nancy fue una de diez hermanos, recordada con profundo amor por sus hermanos sobrevivientes: Susana, Titina, Alonso, Yolanda y Geovany Gavilanes. Ahora descansa en paz junto a sus hermanos Jacinto, Antonio, Isabel y Pedro Gavilanes. Su querida gata Miko también le brindó mucha alegría y compañía.

Obtuvo su Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas en Brooklyn College en Brooklyn, NY, luego de haber cursado sus estudios en la Universidad Laica Vicente Rocafuerte de Guayaquil, Ecuador, donde le faltaba apenas un semestre para graduarse antes de mudarse a Nueva York. Nancy trabajó como gerente de oficina en Family Dynamics, donde destacó por su profesionalismo, calidez y dedicación.

Su mayor logro fue haber criado a sus hijos, quienes le otorgan simbólicamente una Maestría Honorífica en Amor Incondicional y Fortaleza de Vida, en reconocimiento por sus sacrificios infinitos, apoyo inquebrantable y profundas enseñanzas que marcaron su camino.

Nancy fue una mujer alegre, optimista, amorosa y fuerte. Nos enseñó a nunca rendirnos, a enfrentar la vida con amor y humildad, siendo suave pero firme cuando era necesario. Su calidez iba más allá de la familia; todos los que la conocieron recuerdan su bondad y generosidad.

Disfrutaba mucho viajar en carro porque amaba pasear y conocer lugares nuevos. Le encantaban las caminatas largas, pasear en bicicleta, montar a caballo y nadar—hasta en aguas frías. Como cristiana devota, encontraba fortaleza en la oración y paz en la música de oración y alabanza.

La memoria de Nancy vivirá para siempre en cada vida que tocó y en cada corazón que llenó de amor.

With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Nancy Violeta Cardenas Gavilanes, who entered eternal rest on July 16, 2025, at the age of 63.

Born in Milagro, Ecuador, Nancy was the cherished daughter of Angela Gavilanes Larco and Manuel Gavilanes Ochoa. She later built a warm and loving home in Staten Island, NY.

Nancy was the devoted wife of Edgar Javier Cardenas Alban for 38 beautiful years and the loving mother of Josue Javier Cardenas and Judith Angelita Cardenas. Her granddaughters—Madison Judith, Savannah Renae, and Delilah Grace Cardenas—were her heart and greatest joy.

Nancy was one of ten siblings, remembered dearly by her surviving brothers and sisters: Susana, Titina, Alonso, Yolanda, and Geovany Gavilanes. She now reunites in peace with her siblings Jacinto, Antonio, Isabel, and Pedro Gavilanes. Her beloved cat, Miko, brought her joy and companionship.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business from Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY, after nearly completing her degree at La Universidad Laica Vicente Rocafuerte de Guayaquil in Ecuador—just one semester away from graduation before coming to New York. Nancy worked as an Office Manager at Family Dynamics, known for her professionalism, compassion, and dedication.

Her proudest achievement was raising her children, who lovingly award her an honorary Master’s Degree in Unconditional Love and Lifelong Resilience, recognizing her endless sacrifices, unwavering support, and profound teachings that guided their success.

Nancy was vibrant, optimistic, nurturing, and resilient. She taught us to never give up, to always approach life with love and humility, and was gentle yet firm when needed. Her warmth extended beyond family; anyone she met was touched by her kindness and generosity.

She enjoyed traveling by car because she loved sightseeing. She found joy in long walks, bike rides, horseback riding, and swimming—even in cold water. As a devout Christian, she drew strength from prayer and found comfort in música de oración y alabanza.

Nancy’s memory will forever live on through every life she touched and every heart she warmed.
