

Born in Norway, he moved to Bayonne as a teenager. He also lived in Westerleigh before settling to Castleton Corners.
Mr. Hansen enlisted in U.S. Mary in 1942, serving with the 99th Battalion in the Normandy Campaign and the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After his service, he worked as a merchant mariner for 41 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the Sons of Norway, Nansen Lodge, Travis, and a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Willowbrook. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
His wife, Ragna, died in 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Bob and Harold; two daughters, Barbara Anderson and Kathryn Goffredo; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a service at 10 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
