Robert Volini, 61, better known as “Bob” to all, passed away on May 8, 2021, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 3, 1959 to Robert and Alice Volini. He moved to Staten Island with his wife, Linda, in 1985.
A skilled perfectionist, with a tireless work ethic, he began his career as a marble and stone setter at the age of 18, culminating in over 40-plus years as a Site-Supervisor, overseeing the development of high-end residential units to the wealthy and famous. His extracurricular tile jobs and handy-work on countless neighborhood homes will serve as an enduring reminder of the meticulous talent exhibited on everything touched by the man with “hands of gold.” He was always there to lend a hand to anyone who asked and was well liked by everyone who knew him. Bob’s most precious masterpiece, however, is his family – his “bride” Linda, whom he was married to for 37 years, three beautiful daughters Dana, Amanda and Taylor, his son-in-law, Mike, future son in law, Dan, and his pet “Anna”, all of whom provided the greatest source of pride and joy for him. They shared countless laughs, and spent endless hours together. The love and bond they shared was apparent to all who knew them.
He enjoyed family gatherings, rides on his Harley, eating out in fine restaurants with family and friends, and spending sunny beach days at the Jersey Shore or in his “Happy Place," Florida.
Bob will affectionately be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, one-liners and one of a kind sense-of-humor – all traits he undoubtedly passed on to his children.
He is also survived by his father, Robert, step-mother, Lauren, his twin sister, Alice (“Cookie”) Corraggio, and sister, Jeannie Smith. Bob also had a huge extended family whom he adored. His beloved mother passed away in 2001.
Bob will be missed immensely by all those who have had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM at St. Clare Church, 110 Nelson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10308.
