Lifelong West Brighton resident
Rose Mosiello (nee Pape) 92, a lifelong resident of West Brighton, Staten Island, and a retired grocery store owner, passed away Saturday, April 2, at Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehab Center.
Known as Rosie and Gram to her family and friends, she was married to her late husband, William (Smiley) Mosiello, for 58 years. Together they owned and operated a mom-and-pop shop, the former Smiley's Food Store in Port Richmond for 28 years.
Rosie was a great cook, "who made the best lasagna," said her family. She ensured to keep with her mother's Italian family traditions. She played all the old songs on the piano, loved dancing, cooking, trips to Atlantic City, and playing poker with her friends.
Rose is survived by her four children, William C. Mosiello, Marilyn Armbruster, Pamela Latanzio, and Sandra Mosiello; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
The wake will be at Harmon Funeral Home on Forest Avenue on Tuesday, April 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral proceedings will begin at Harmon at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery.
