With great sadness, we announce the passing of Sally Ann Helbig, age 75, on November 21, 2024. Born January 9, 1949, in Spanish Harlem, Sally was the second of five children and was raised in East New York, Brooklyn. She graduated from Maxwell High School and was known for her strong energy, a heart full of love, and a laugh that was contagious. Sally loved deeply and lived her life with joy.
Sally's career brought her to Apicella Jewelry, where she met the love of her life, Timothy B. Helbig Sr., who predeceased her on August 15, 2024. They were friends for many years before their love blossomed into a marriage that lasted for 41 wonderful years.
A devoted mother to Darlene Ann and Timothy B. Helbig Jr., Sally created a home filled with love and warmth. Her pride and joy were her family, and she was especially thrilled to be promoted to the title of “Grandma” by her beloved grandson Jeremiah Vincent, who was her world.
Sally had a passion for dancing, and her favorite holiday was Christmas, which she celebrated with great enthusiasm. She found comfort and joy in watching General Hospital, and the music of Doo Wop, with Elvis Presley as her favorite artist.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Ann, and son, Timothy B. Helbig Jr., her grandson, Jeremiah Vincent, her sisters, Joann Cruz and Lily Monserrat, her sister-in-law, Maureen Donnelly, and a loving extended family that includes nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Sally was truly unique, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Sally will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314.
