Santo is survived by his loving daughters Carol Sottile and her husband Tony, Mariann Althoff, and Irene Fumando, as well as his cherished sister Angela Fumando and brother Carlo Fumando. He was predeceased by his beloved son Peter Fumando, whose memory Santo carried tenderly in his heart.
A proud grandfather, Santo leaves behind seven adored grandchildren: William Althoff (Kimberly), Gina Zaloom (Michael),Toniann Fumando, Jessica Brennan (Brian), Vincent Sottile (Katie), Nicholas Schulz, and Erica Schulz. His legacy continues to shine through his ten treasured great-grandchildren—William, Joseph, Joshua, Evan, Liam, Juliana, Ellie, Riley, Mackenzie, and Lucia—each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
Santo served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, stationed stateside during the Korean War era. He remained an active member of the Cpl. Allan F. Kivlehan Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, proudly connecting with fellow veterans and sharing in the spirit of service.
A man of remarkable skill and perseverance, Santo worked for Island Chevrolet as a parts manager for 36 years until a fire closed the dealership. He later continued his career with BK Chevrolet, where he remained for 12 years until his retirement in 1996.
There was truly nothing Santo couldn’t fix. Whether it was tending to his yard, nurturing his garden, or lending a helping hand to family and friends, his talents were matched only by his kindness. He found his greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of life—working with his hands, sharing stories, and being surrounded by the beautiful family he cherished above all else.
To know Santo was to love him. His steady presence, gentle humor, and boundless devotion to those he loved will be remembered forever. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and unconditional love—a life well lived and a family forever grateful.
