Born on March 2, 1994 in Staten Island, NY, Sebastian was a trailblazer from the very beginning. A proud graduate of Staten Island Tech, Sebastian began his career joining a multitude of programs that centered around politics and government. He had a deep passion for politics and looked to make a positive change in both his community and his country.
In the local Staten Island YMCA branch, he was part of the Youth and Government program, which sparked his passion for public advocacy. He then was a program advisor for the Teens Take the City program, where he developed curriculums for teens about civic engagement and organized sessions that focused on city policy and activism. After graduating from Baruch College in May 2016, he earned a prestigious fellowship to Germany in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX). He spent the year in Dresden, Germany, taking German lessons, immersing himself in the culture while being a policy advisor, assisting with campaign events and creating demographic studies of the city of Dresden.
When he returned to the US, Sebastian began his Masters in Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2018, he then moved to his beloved city of Washington DC. While in the District of Columbia, he worked for many different non-profit organizations in addition to working three years at the United States House, first on the U.S House Committee on Appropriations and then for Representative Delia Ramirez of IL-03. His most recent job was his absolute favorite, working at LAMB PCS as an Executive Organizational Coordinator.
Outside of work and volunteering, Sebastian spent his time either salsa dancing the night away or trying to cook a new recipe that he found from a cookbook. His infectious laughter and tremendous personality made it easy for him to make friends, and he was a true socialite both in NY and DC. Although he loved DC, he was a die-hard New Yorker first and was a proud son of immigrant parents from both El Salvador and Colombia. He deeply valued his family and loved spending quality time with his parents and sister every time he would visit Staten Island.
Sebastian’s big personality, humor and love will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
