

Susan J. Rachmiel, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Brooklyn, Susan's life journey was marked by her dedication to education, her commitment to her community, and her unwavering faith.
Susan dedicated 32 years of her life to shaping young minds as a teacher at Dewey Junior High School in Brooklyn. Her passion for education left a lasting impact on countless students who were fortunate enough to have her as their teacher. In 1983, she married her beloved husband Jay, with whom she shared many cherished memories and adventures.
Growing up, Susan spent her childhood at the Spanish Camp on Staten Island, where she first crossed paths with Jay, laying the foundation for a lifelong partnership filled with love and companionship. She was an active member of the Sons of Norway Nancen's Lodge and the Ladies Auxiliary of Richmond Memorial Hospital, demonstrating her dedication to service and community involvement.
Susan's spiritual journey was an integral part of her life. She was originally a member of the Reformed Church of Prince's Bay before joining the Huguenot Reformed Church, where she faithfully served and taught Sunday school.
A visitation to honor Susan's life will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.
Susan will be dearly missed by her family, friends, former students, and all those whose lives she touched with her wisdom, generosity, and love. May she rest in eternal peace.
