

Born and raised on Staten Island, he graduated from McKee High School.
Mr. Bishop served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
After he and Eleanor Tengelsen wed in 1959, the couple lived in Westerleigh. They relocated to Schenectady, N.Y. in 1997, and settled in East Brunswick in 2008.
Mr. Bishop worked for the city Parks Department and the Department of Transportation.
He enjoyed staying fit by playing handball, swimming and bicycle riding.
He was a longtime member of El Bethel Assemblies of God Church, Westerleigh, where he was an active volunteer in the outreach ministries at Lily Pond Nursing Home and the Bowery Mission in Manhattan.
Surviving Mr. Bishop, along with Eleanor, his wife of 55 years, are his daughter, Darlene Bull; his son, James, and two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
