Born and raised in Norwalk, Conn., Mr. Covino moved to Staten Island in the early 1960s, settling in West Brighton. He moved to New Dorp after his marriage in 1986. He relocated to Sea View in 2009, where he lived until he entered the nursing home in April.
Mr. Covino was employed as a security guard for more than 20 years, working for various companies and at various locations throughout Staten Island, including branches of the former Staten Island Savings Bank, now Sovereign Bank. He retired in 1982.
Mr. Covino was an Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed buying and restoring vintage cars as a hobby.
His wife, the former Mary Peterson, died in 1995.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
