Vincent was born to Antonio and Frances Amato in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Staten Island, NY, and then to Rutherford, NJ.
After high school, Vincent served as a Body Bearer at the 8th and I from 1958 to 1964. He was selected for the Ceremonial Guard Company, which also included the Color Guard and the Drill team. After that, Vincent graduated St. John University and completed two years of law school when he decided he needed to join the work force as a salesman in order to support his beloved wife and new son, Tony. Vincent met his first wife, Diane Jacobsen in high school. They had three cherished children, Tony, Dawn, and Vinny.
She tragically lost her battle to cancer in 1985.
Vincent was devoted to his family by blood and his family by choice. He believed that family came first, integrity mattered, and traditions were extremely important. He enjoyed his time up the country, his NY sports teams, reading, Broadway, movies, playing pinochle, and telling jokes! He was famous for his jokes. He would call his siblings, Nino, Roxy, and Gerri with a joke a day!
In 2011, he suffered a debilitating stroke but fought for more time with the help and sacrifice of his treasured wife, Deborah. Vincent met Deborah at work and found his second chance at love. He enjoyed her sense of humor and her intelligence. They were married on September 21, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Tinch Amato; his siblings and their spouses, Nino and Linda Amato and Roxann and Gordon Bodine; daughter and husband, Dawn and John Greene; son and wife, Vincent and Lenore Amato; grandchildren, Carissa, Diane, and Vincent and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his first wife, Diane; son, Tony; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Joe Gatto; and mother and father, Frances and Antonio Amato.
Friends may visit with the family at the Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Staten Island, NY, on Friday, January 2, 2025, from 3:00-7:00. Funeral Service on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 10:30-11:00 A.M. followed by a Committal Service at Moravian Cemetery.
