Vincent L. DiTizio

VIncent Louis 'Vinnie Dee' Ditizio, 78 Jazz guitarist, upholsterer, dear husband and father, known for his sense of humor Native Staten Islander Vincent Louis Ditizio ("Vinnie Dee"), 78, passed away on April 20, 2016. He was the owner, operator, and master upholsterer of ABC Upholsterers in Dongan Hills. He was also a talented jazz guitarist who studied under Chuck Wayne and was widely known as the musician "Vinnie Dee." Highlights of his music career include gigs with Tony Bennett, Art Van Dam, and many others. He led his own band, "The Vinny Dee Quartet," and also played with Bob Soldivera Orchestra and the M.V. Trio. For 25 years he worked at The Fountains on Staten Island as a doorman. He also served the board of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Vinnie was the only son of the late Justino "Frank" and Theresa DiTizio. He is survived by his loving children, Vincent and wife Anne, Lisa and husband Harry, Mark and wife Tricia, and Linda and husband Michael; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Justin, Christian, and Olivia; and his sisters, Paula Mitkowski, Anne Harden, Louise Megna and Janis Balletto. Vinnie was known for his sense of humor (he always had a joke ready for all), his passion for jazz and his love for his family and friends. He was outgoing and always smiling. He deeply believed in heaven and his savior Jesus Christ, and had no doubt that when his time was up he would be joined with The Lord in paradise. He touched the hearts of everyone he encountered in his lifetime and will be missed by all. Until we meet again, AN' BET! The wake for Vincent will be held at Virginia Funeral Home in Dongan Hills this Sunday, April 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service is Monday, April 25, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 96 Alter Ave., Dongan Hills.
