Barbara McInnis Hotchkiss

Barbara Louise McInnis Hotchkiss, age 83, died Saturday morning at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a long illness. The Concord, N.H., native grew up in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1946. She moved to Atlanta and worked as a secretary, and married in 1955. She moved to Gainesville, Fla., in 1957, and to Statesboro in 1974. She was a homemaker, and worked for several years as a retail employee at Woolworth’s, Belk, J.C. Penney and Goodwill Industries in Statesboro. Before retiring in 2005, she worked as kitchen manager at Statesboro First United Methodist Church Preschool, where she was a parishioner. She richly enjoyed the company of her many friends, enjoyed traveling and avidly played Scrabble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Hotchkiss, in 1983.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Betty Hotchkiss of Marshallville, and Joe and Ellen Hotchkiss of Martinez; one daughter, Amy Hotchkiss Durden of Statesboro; two sisters, Gerry Reynolds of Clearwater, Fla., and Jane Colburn of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren, Rachel Hotchkiss Litland of Macon, Amanda Durden Bell of Statesboro, and Daniel Hotchkiss and Teresa Hotchkiss, both of Martinez; one great-grandchild, Kyla Bell of Statesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Lily McCroan Circle.

Burial will be in the Alderman Cemetery.
