

David was born and raised in Statesboro, attended local schools and was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany. David spent many years working in the paving business, working with Creasy Paving Company, before becoming the owner and operator of Woods Paving Company, which he ran for over 15 years. David was member of the Baptist faith, a former member to the Bulloch Sportsman’s Club and was an avid fisherman and hunter. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, David D. Woods, Sr. and Louise Bazemore Strange and his sisters, Elizabeth Lewis and Dorothy Quill.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellen Woods of Statesboro; sons, David Ashley Woods and his wife, Meghan of Statesboro; Charles Wesley Woods of Statesboro; James Woods of Longview, Washington and Michael Woods of Lafayette, Indiana; daughter, Tonya Jastrow of Longview, Washington; sisters, Sally Stokes and her husband, Earl of Statesboro and Helen Ward and her husband, Tommy of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, April 14, 2017 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. John Forrester officiating.
Burial will follow in Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Deal, Nick Fordham, Jamie Lynch, Marvin Deal, Jr., Dominic Pugliano, Freddie Hendrix, Darold Swanson, Duane Wiese, Bruce Hope and Billy Milton.
