

Jim was born in Waltham, Mass. and lived in Boston for most of his life before retiring to Hernando, FL in 1993, living there for eight years before moving to Crystal River, FL in 2000. In 2013, Jim moved to Statesboro to be closer to his family. Jim was a United States Army Veteran serving in Germany at the conclusion of the Korean War and was a life-time member of the Massachusetts State National Guard and was also a member of the Framingham Minute Men. While in Boston, Jim served as a Labor Foreman with the Laborers International Union of North America, Local 560, where he was a life-time member; was a member of the Moose Lodge #1018 in Waltham, Mass and was an active member in the Elks Lodge # 2522 in West Inverness, FL and was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Statesboro.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pauline H. Gauthier of Statesboro; sons, James Joseph Gauthier, III and his wife, Christine of Avon, CT; Peter David Gauthier and his wife, Katia of Statesboro and Eric James Tomlin and his wife, Laura of Oxford, Mass; daughter, Robyn Baker and her former husband, Scott of Cohasset, Mass; sister, Sally Charbonneau and her husband Robert of Waltham, Mass; grandchildren, Kylie Gauthier, Noelle Gauthier, Samantha Baker, Cole Baker, Nicolette Gauthier, Danielle Gauthier, Eric Tomlin, Jr, Trevor Tomlin, Madeline Tomlin and Jacob Devine; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Reverend Douglas K. Clark officiating.
Inurnment will follow in Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, with military honors, in Glennville, 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2016.
