Jill Balcomb

Miss Jill Diane Balcomb, age 69, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Eagle Health and Rehabilitation Center, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born in January 1943 in Durham, North Carolina. Jill grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated from Northside High School. She attended Georgia Southern and graduated from Ogeechee Technical College. She loved Statesboro and made this her home amongst many friends. Over the years, Jill was employed with Kentucky Fried Chicken, Woolworth's, Roses, Minkovitz and the College Pharmacy. Jill enjoyed her years as a member of the Blue Ray Chapter of the Eastern Star and served a term as Worthy Matron. She was an active and faithful member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church for many years and volunteered in various projects and activities. Jill was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lucienne Balcomb; her brother, Jack; and her special longtime friend, Charles Simmons.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Balcomb; her niece, Susan (Mark) Johnson; and a nephew, Robert Balcomb.

The graveside service and burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Eastside Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating.
