

Mrs. Joanne Shearouse Brown, age 78, died early Thursday at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. She was born in Auburndale, Florida and a longtime resident of Bulloch County. Mrs. Brown was a lifetime member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church and worked in the insurance business for many years. She enjoyed traveling, camping with her grandchildren, watching the Braves, and University of Georgia football. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Irving Shearouse,Sr. and Virginia Clements Shearouse, and her first husband, Emory Hudson Godbee.
Survivors include her husband, William Z. “Bill” Brown of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann Godbee Dunning and John Dunning of Wayne, Nebraska; one son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Lane Godbee of Statesboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Bonnie Shearouse of Statesboro; four grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Godbee, Laura Lane Godbee, Adam Emory Toth, and John Hudson Godbee.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Carter Berkeley and Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
