John David Smith

John D. Smith, passed away November 18, 2011. He worked for the City of Savannah for twenty eight years prior to his retirement and was a lifelong farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Vidella Miller Smith; his parents Ham and Annie Gain Smith; and one daughter, Sarah Francis Hendrix. Mr. Smith was a member and Deacon in the Mormon Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Hilda Sellers of Bloomingdale, GA, Judy (Buford) Sikes of Collins, GA, Donna S. (Gene) Underwood of Meldrim; three sons, Johnny R. (Brenda Gail) Smith of Ashford, AL, Charlie E. (Bearnease) Smith of Blitchton, GA, Danny Lee (Margie A.) Smith of Eldora, GA; thirty-two grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 21, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery in Jenkins County.
